Wings of Grace attracts from Wonsook Kim’s experience as a Korean immigrant. A painter of magical, vivid landscapes, and a storyteller of the universality of human hardships, Wonsook has created a visible diary of her life. With a private type combining a childlike perspective and the professional craftsmanship of an experienced artist and colorist, Wonsook’s work represents a novel Korean sensibility. This will be the first exhibition devoted to Johnson in over 25 years. Eventually the erotic imagery of pinups started appearing as collage parts synthesized with drawings and work of rescue animals and generally architecture. Her architectural topics, which are also represented on this exhibition, had been the facades of intricate endangered architecture that she captured in thick, acrylic gestural paintings.
